  i love giving and helping people.

  I give all the time. Not to anyone I know either....and it does benefit me because it declutters my house.

  Anyone heard of www.freecycle.org I love it.

  Gives people things they need or want and keeps stuff out of the landfills...although probably temporarily...and I get my house decluttered..

  I also give money to homeless people....I don't care what they are going to do with the money....they look like they need it and I don't care if its a scam.

  I don't know if this is the kind of agape you are talking about...

  Does The GB Assign Someone To Make Believe They Are An XJW On This Forum?

  i think from time to time we have posters here that may be assigned by the gb to speak xjw speak and try to discourage posters from attacking the organization, or to just give up our internet fight to expose them, to just give up our efforts and forget about the wt.

  if they did this they would have to keep close tabs on whoever they assign because they know that there is a great possiblity they may turn on them.

  or perhaps they would trust no one except themselves and so you might even have a member of the gb actually posting in disguise.

  I suppose that a person could pretend to be a xjw then strike up conversations with people being friendly and sympathetic...then get them to email them off this board and then trace their IP address through an IP look up thingy...My husband is a IT guy and I know he knows how to do it and I have used it and it gives out a lot of information about people especially if they are posting from their jobs.

  So who knows...maybe there is a JW apostate swat team looking to keep the congregations clean.

  Can you imagine what the watchtower geek squad would look like......LOL.

  Kind of like a whole group of guys at Bethel sitting in a room typing on the internet...kind of like those policemen who hunt down kiddie porn wierdo's.

  Okay....maybe I better stop thinking about this.

  this one guy in the kh has these lame ass comments all the time, and here is his latest, .

  "we are sad about family that does not believe in jehovah anymore.

  Oh I remember those comments..........geez!

  When I first started going with my most wonderful husband....I got that from the KH drones.

  We are your family. We love you...Your biological family isn't important...Your family in Jehovah is important.

  Well my biological family has never turned their backs on me....or told me not to buy a turkey....or called me a demonized person because I questioned them...

  I really feel badly for these people when they come to realize the truth about what's behind the curtain in Crooklyn and they try to go back to their families...so many hurt feelings from this pompous behavior.

  It's just so wrong.

  Does anyone think Jesus would turn his back on his mother, earthly father, or siblings if they didn't go to his temple, talks, etc?

  right so i have a younger cousin that works with me (helped him get a job with my company because in s.a you gotto pray you know someone who can help you get a job).

  as you know i've left the borg - he's still very much into it.

  so yesturday myself, him & a mutual college go off for a lunch at the keg - we order our food and when it comes, he bows his head and prays....silenty - the waitress comes over and thinks he's fallen asleep (narcarpsy sp???

  My parents are new born again Xtians....they pray out in restaurants, they pray over snacks.

  When I went out with them and their Friday night church group for dinner the pastor stood up in the restaurant and led the prayer.

  I wanted to crawl under the table...

  I'm not ashamed to pray...I just don't need everybody seeing me do it..

  How do I control my jealousy?!! Help!

  the first time i can vividly recall feeling jealous was when i was 7.. my dad came home from visiting a client with gifts for me and my sisters.

  my younger sisters got a beaufiful handmade doll dressed in pink lace called betty and a handmade cotton cot.

  i got the 1982 yearbook of jws.

  For me personally....

  When I have been jealous it has been linked to my own poor self image of myself. From growing up being unwanted and feeling like that same little unloveable 4 year old girl again.

  Question for Christians and ex-JW: How is salvation attained?

  i am a rather newly minted christian.

  i have been exposed to many different beliefs besides the jw, but i tend to take more of a "mere christianity" view of salvation.. here is a summary of that view.. i believe there is a god, evidenced by an innate natural law that most understand, aspire to, and expect from others.

  laws require a lawgiver.

  I kind of like the 12 step view of things....and Karma.

  I've been involved in too many religions.....I'm all religioned out.

  Right now I just try to be a good person...do no harm. I try to do what's right. I try to teach my boys the difference between right and wrong.

  I stay away from evil people.

  I try not to be a hypocrite. I try not to judge.

  I try to be loving to people and am trying now to be loving towards people who I feel....(this is me being judgemental) don't deserve my love.

  I'm a work in progress and I don't know if any of this answered your question.

  Do I believe in God? I believe in something bigger than me. Do I pray? Yes I do...sometimes that's how I get through the day and the nights with a teething 10 month old. Do I believe in heaven? Some days I do and some days I hope and wonder? Do I believe there is a hell? Yes...and I believe it can be self imposed or possibly it's like Sheol and just being dead forever.

  Sorry to get so long winded.

  First...I feel really under-educated compared to some of you on this topic so please don't attack me. I spend my day chasing 2 little boys and reading when I can.

  I read 2 books on this subject. One was by William Close and the other was called the Hot Zone by Richard Preston. My impression was that they found some of the components of the virus' in Kitum Cave in Africa (scratching head trying to remember).

  I have no doubt that our government could have taken those components and played around with them to make some evil biological experiment.

  Sooo....anybody know of any IT jobs in Oregon? (Or...anywhere?)

  i've been working at a telephony company doing primarily sql database stuff for the past 7 years, and the last year of that telecommuting from oregon (they didn't want to lose such a valued employee, so made arrangements for that).

  unfortunately, our ceo died recently (within the past 6 weeks), the resulting turmoil with investors and customers is causing the company to go out of business.

  should last out the end of the month, but, then, that's it.

  My husband works in IT here in Massachusetts. The pay is pretty good if you are willing to work in Boston...but the housing prices are high too.

  We had talked about moving to Idaho to be closer to family but the IT field pays half of what it does here....Uggh!

  2 JWs Sent Registered Letters For "APOSTASY"

  i was told that 2 "anointed" witnesses that had recently (on the night of the memorial) picketed in front of the kingdom hall were sent registered letters inviting them to a judicial committee meeting.

  the husband had told the elders when they first called last week that the elders should call off the meeting because his wife had once again had major tremors and had to be hospitalized due to being sent the letter.

  and that the elders should realize that they would surely get legal action against them if anything happened to his wife.

  My husband and I have some very good friends who were DF'd for having a wreath on their door at Christmas time. It wasn't a Christmas wreath either...it was just a dried floral wreath that they had up all year round.

  They were accused of celebrating pagan festivities. This kind of love really opened their eyes and they have never gone back.

  Ever since they left the hall everything in their life has improved. Business, bigger house, family situation. My friends business was even featrued on the front page of the newspaper.

  It really made me laugh since the WTS teaches that if you leave your life will go to Sh*t.
